Large Antique German c1910 Silver & Enamel “Souvenir” Oak Leaf Slider Charm

A large antique Edwardian c1910 German silver and green enamel oak leaf shaped charm that slides open to reveal 2 further oak leaf shaped pages inside. The front is enamelled with the word “Andenken” which translates to “Souvenir”. The pages inside were designed to be engraved with dates and names but are still blank. The bale is set with a foil backed chrysoprase. A super rare piece. 

It measures, when closed, 33mm (1 inch 1/4) by 17mm (11/16ths of an inch) and weighs 6.5 grammes. Marked on the back of the front leaf “DRGM 800” for European grade silver. The slides are stiff so do not open when worn and stay in place when open. The silver has a wonderful matte finish on all parts. There is some green enamel missing, just below the bale, but the rest is perfect. A wonderful unusual and rare piece.
