Antique WWI Silver & Wooden Fumsup Touch Wood Charm with Purple Paste Eyes
An antique c1914 WWI silver Fumsup charm with a wooden head, articulated arms and purple paste birthstone eyes. Not only can he give the “Fumsup” but he can also “Touch Wood”. A very lucky charm.
It measures 31mm (1 inch 1/4) by 11mm (7/16ths of an inch) and weighs 1.8 grammes. The back is marked with the registration number 636612 which dates to around 1914 and the charm tests as sterling silver. The wooden head has facial features, a four leaf clover on the forehead, purple paste eyes and “Touch Wood” embossed on the back (slightly worn). There is a little wear to the wood around the suspension bale but otherwise it is all in lovely condition just slightly tarnished. I think this piece was originally gilded but only a tiny amount remains in the hard to reach areas.
