Antique Victorian c1900 Silver “Love is Blind” Glasses Case Charm Removable Glasses Inside
An antique Victorian c1900 silver German or Austrian charm of a glasses case that says “Liebe Macht Blind” which translates to “Love is Blind”. The case opens to reveal a tiny pair of spectacles inside, fully removable, and with folding arms. There should be two magnifying lenses but only one is present. A fabulously rare piece.
The case measures 23mm (15/16ths of an inch) by 9mm (3/8ths of an inch), excluding the suspension bale, and weighs 2.3 grammes. There are the remnants of some silver marks on the bale but the piece tests as at least 800 grade silver. It closes securely and, other than the missing lens, is all in lovely condition just some slight surface wear to the outer case.
