Antique Victorian c1890 12ct Gold Mourning Locket with Black Enamel Cross
An antique Victorian c1890 12ct gold mourning locket charm or pendant with a black enamel cross to the front, opens to reveal a single space inside for a photograph or lock of hair.
It measures 18mm (6/8ths of an inch) by 15mm (5/8ths of an inch), excluding the suspension bale, and weighs 2 grammes. Unmarked but tests as around 12ct gold (tests higher than 9ct but lower than 14ct). It closes securely and has a rim and glass inside. Somebody has put a modern picture of a chick inside but it is easily changed. There are two small cracks along the join that attaches the front and back of the locket together. They cause no problems because there is a lining inside but they do show from the outside. Other than that it is in very good condition.
