Antique Victorian Solid Silver Charm of an Unknown Character c1900
An antique Victorian c1900 Austro-Hungarian solid silver charm of an unknown character. He reminds me of the touch wood charms from the First World War, a ball with facial features and then arms and legs attached. He appears to be dancing. A very unusual piece.
It measures 24mm (15/16ths of an inch) by 12mm (1/2 an inch) and weighs 4.4 grammes. Marked with a dog’s head, the 800 silver mark for Austria-Hungary from 1886-1922. It was originally gilded but nearly all of this has now worn away. Some slight surface wear but generally very good condition just slightly tarnished.
